  • Trend Alert: A New Way to Layer

    31 Jul 2014 | 7:49 pm
I’m very sure many of us are used to the basic idea of layering outfits for warmth. However, there is more to layering than to simply wear a sweater over a tee, or a shirt. I came across this article at Refinery 29, which will give you an idea of how you can layer in a new way. Inspired by Thakoon Addition’s pre-fall 2014 collection, Refinery 29 has compiled these four layered looks that you can put together, just in time for a different style this fall. Shown here clockwise from left are: 1. Easy-Peasy – breaks up a matching style with an undone shirt; 2. Totally High…

Spoon Collection by Dana Haim, a Brooklyn, NY based textile designer and artist, who is generally known for her hand-printed wallpapers, one-of-a-kind hanging art sculptures and pom-pom garlands. Here, Dana departs from her usual medium, to create this set of spoons in its simple form with unusual etched patterns. However, as she explains, the two mediums aren’t so different: “I think about patterns for ceramics much like I do when creating patterns for textiles, and while glazing I’m reminded of my days in the dye lab; there is a similar element of surprise.”

Hi friends! My name is Louie. Ever since my mom and dad brought me home, I've made so many new human and puppy friends...probably because I'm so darn cute! My favorite thing to do is sleep, but I also love belly rubs, playing tug-of-war, and splashing around in my puppy pool. I'm a very smart boy and already know a few tricks like sit, paw and lay down. I have a lot of learning to do, but as long as there are treats involved, I'm willing to learn!Click for more pictures and comments...

Maya came to us from a shelter in Tennessee. Though she arrived with a scar across her back, cause unknown, she doesn't let her reverse mohawk get her down. She loves running like a maniac around the yard, taking naps belly-up on the couch, chasing fireflies and meeting new people/dogs. She's been busy conducting an exhaustive scent survey of Prospect Heights. She will not rest until she knows what each inch of the neighborhood smells like, and why. Simba loves to play outside, be held, eat carrots, swim, run, cuddle, and lick everything, especially my feet. She's quite the talker, too. She always has something to say when I come home! I'm guessing it's about those treats I hid in her crate. She loves people, but sometimes she thinks she's a huge guard puppy and she barks at people who she thinks are a threat. It's pretty adorable. She is also a Velcro doggy: she follows me everywhere! Even if I go somewhere else in the apartment while she's sleeping or doing something else, she'll always find me and lie down at my feet either for a…

Only for a limited time! If you missed the announcement last week, we are offering a re-print of the special edition decal. The last day to order them will be 8/5. You can click the button below. This style of decal is the graphic cut out in vinyl with no background, like those you frequently see on car windows. These decals are printed and “weeded” one at a time, so they are much more labor intensive than the peel-and-place stickers. As a result, they cost much more to produce, but the extra price is worth the sharp look. The cost of these decals will be the same as the last…

  • Come Over and Play, Kibblesmiths

    30 Jul 2014 | 7:51 am
A few days ago I pulled out the cardboard houses and put them in the center of the living room.Wylla loves to hide inside the houses and wait for an unsuspecting Kibblesmith to walk by so she  can give them a BOOP with her paw, or pounce at them through a window or door.  If they come knocking on the door,  she'll let them in, but usually there's a slap fight or a wrestling match on the doorstep first. They've figured out all sort of games to play in the houses, and seem to really enjoy themselves.  It's highly entertaining to watch them, too!

    Good Morning Kitten

  • Diablilla [redux] - August 01, 2014

    31 Jul 2014 | 9:00 pm
Diablilla [redux]Pieter and Renée say: We are the owners of Titran's Cattery. We have bred Norwegian Forest cats since 2000, first in Brussels, Belgium, until 2006, and now in a small village in the southern part of the Netherlands. Our breeding goal has been and will always be to breed very healthy and social Norwegian forest cats who are as close as possible to the breed's standard. So for us no elegant, thin-boned NFOs with a brushed and shampooed look, but rather the wild, robust, and heavy-boned cat with the typical wild look. As we like to put it: a Norwegian Forest cat should be…

The kittens were from the Elmsford Animal Shelter as part of a "Donation and Adoption Day. A total of four shelters from the area were invited to our campus and employees brought in items as donations to the shelters (blankets, food, and other supplies that were needed and on a list sent to employees ahead of time). I think there were about eight kittens, and I and a few coworkers spent our lunchtime holding them and playing with them. I'm not sure if any of them were adopted, but…

    29 Jul 2014 | 9:00 pm
MistyMisty and her brother Shelby were two of five kittens born to a pure white mother at the Horowhenua Animal Rescue Society Inc (Levin, NZ). She used to love Shelby and spend all her time curled up next to him, but now at the age of eight she hisses at him for no reason! Despite being fed the same, she is a lot smaller than Shelby and people think she is still a kitten! She is a smoke tabby, so when you part her black fur, it's only black on the tips and she's white underneath. She lives on a lifestyle block with Shelby and Smooch.Courtesy of: Smooch

SmoochI found Smooch at the SPCA in Levin, New Zealand. I saw her through a glass panel in the door and instantly fell in love with her. She had gorgeous colouring and the cutest little face! I walked into the adoption room and she meowed at me and I knew I was not leaving there without her! She had apparently been surrendered by a family and had only just arrived. I took her straight to the vet to get her checked out and found she had a few fleas but was otherwise in good health and about seven weeks old. We had two older cats then (Flash and Beemer) and Smooch fitted in well with them. She…

Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia.  It is a city that borders two countries – Austria and Hungary.  When I was planning the trip to Vienna, I notice that the distance between Vienna and Bratislava was just 50 Km away.  Two capital cities less than an hour apart.  So, I decided to visit this city as well.
