Edible chocolate lego bricks that you can play with, and also pop in your mouth! This was a Valentine’s Day project by Japanese illustrator and designer Akihiro Mizuuchi, who created a series of templates based on Lego’s toy brick design. He then poured melted chocolate into these modular molds, popped them out upon cooling, and made his own set of edible Lego bricks! The Mobile Suit Gundam was one of the characters he had constructed from his chocolate blocks. Akihiro used a variety of chocolate flavors – dark, milk, white and strawberry, as well as green and blue coloring…

For a while now, I have been on the hunt for a non-plastic, and preferably made of natural material pastry container. It isn’t so much to carry pies and pastries around town, but rather to have a nice-looking storage box on the kitchen countertop for the baked goods, away from pesky flies, dirt and perhaps grabby fingers. I’m sure you can imagine my excitement when I stumble upon Piebox. It’s no ordinary pie box, but a reusable wooden box handcrafted of unfinished pine in a simple modern design. Its sturdy square wooden frame also makes for easy stacking, which is a plus for…

Each diy kit includes a pre-creased cut-out cardboard in a reversible color. Juneau reminds me of a little ferret, bear cub, kitty, husky, and wolf all rolled up into one tiny package. She's everything I ever dreamed of in a dog; she's the most loving, playful, and intelligent puppy I've come across. She loves burrowing in the grass with her nose, cuddling until she falls asleep with puppy snores, and playing with her pink squeaky cupcake. She's definitely a little princess that makes everyone smile when they meet her. Click for more pictures and comments...

This is Sugarhoney. She lives in the mountains of Western North Carolina, and she's sweeter than sugar and honey put together. Her favorite activities are eating and sitting down. She may be part pot-belly piglet. When she is moving, she likes playing with balls, sticks, and following her big brothers, Pouncey and Eli, everywhere they go, even bravely into the river in the back yard. She is so mellow and loving, and we love her to bits!Click for more pictures and comments...

My hobbies include swimming, going on walks with my mom, chewing every stuffed animal I can get my paws on, and playing with my friends at the dog park and puppy camp. I even have a boyfriend at puppy camp (another black Lab puppy) who I follow around all day! I love all foods, but will do almost anything for peanut butter. I was adopted from the shelter, so nobody really knows what I am mixed with, but the vet thinks there may be some Great Dane…

I also have a lot of energy. I love to go on walks and to the park with my border collie brother Toby. I've learned from him how to play fetch and am working on perfecting my border collie "working stance". I am trying to learn how to…

I snapped this picture with my phone the second I got home with our dear little Von Tussles. They were a wee bit crusty when they arrived, and a couple of them had goopy eyes. This can be a symptom for upper-respiratory infections, fortunately it did not lead to that, an ointment cleared their eyes right up, and I was greeted by six sets of bright, blinking eyes the next morning.I was also greeted by a litter box filled with puddles of poo, so everyone went back to the HS  to visit the doctor and they returned with medicine, probiotics, a nutritional supplement, a bag of sub Q…

I'm very sorry to say this, but I've got some more sad news to report. Not all that long ago, I shared with you that we lost one of our former IBK, Virgil Pettibone.  Just a few days before I got these news I had received an email from Victoria, mom to both Henry (formerly Carmine) and Agnes Pettibone. She reported that Henry been dropping weight, so they took them into the vet to have him checked out. Things were pointing towards cancer, but at that time they were waiting for a report from the lab to confirm this.  Sadly, soon after, cancer was confirmed.   They had hoped…

A couple of days after we said goodbye to our precious Kibblesmiths,  I dropped by the shelter to see if there might be some babies in need of a place. I bumped into Ruth on my way in, and she said "You're in luck!" She told me about a set of six that had just arrived, and said I could have three, four, or as many as I would like. I committed to four, and headed back to the foster room to meet the kittens and make my selection. I had never been in the position to pick before. Uusually, I just get the call and take home the assigned kittens. I never give it much thought, I just assume…

Found Foster Kittens [3]Stacey says: I volunteer for a shelter called Animal Aid, so I'm used to taking in foster kittens. However, these kittens came to me in an unusual way. They were left in a box outside of a church that I happened to be going to for a baptism. They were scrawny and completely filthy, so of course my boyfriend and I had to take them home. After weeks of bottle-feeding and loving attention, they were eventually big and healthy enough to go to their new homes. Apparently growing up in a three-dog household was good for them; I am told that both of them snuggle with the dogs…

The vet says she is not a true colourpoint, but she is close enough for me. I thought I would have to pay for one. She looks like she has pedigree somewhere down or up the line. Think watermelons are nothing but a delectable summer treat? Well, if you lived in the 19th century, you’d be woefully mistaken. Back in the day, these fruits packed quite a bite. It turns out that the history of watermelons is even richer than the taste of the fruit itself! A particular strain, called the Bradford watermelon, was so preciously popular that those who held Bradford seeds had to take extreme measures to protect them. Men with guns guarded their fields from bands of watermelon thieves. Wires were laid through watermelon patches to electrocute any passerby who felt tempted…

During our walk along the old town coast line, we saw these figurines (photo above) and wondered what they were for.  And right next to it was the Toy Museum.  It was quite a hot day, so we stepped in to the museum and thankfully it has AC.  We decided to check it out, and cool ourselves too. And you can also take photos inside. The price to get into the museum was 6TL (about 3USD).  I think it…

For both of our birthdays this year, Mr. and I decided to visit two cities in Turkey.  Our first stop was in Istanbul, afterwards we visited Antalya for 4 days.  Antalya is located at the Mediterranean south-western coast of Turkey.  It was our first time visiting Antalya, and since it was a resort town, it was the perfect getaway for a relaxing trip. It takes about an hour flight from Istanbul to reach Antalya.  From the airport we took the metro to get to our hotel which is located at the old city.  My first impression of Antalya:  It’s a mixture of Istanbul city with a resort…

During my trip to Monte Carlo, I was looking for a memorable souvenir to purchase and display on my shelf.  However, I coudn’t find something that I found particularly cute until I saw this bear keychain.  The store where I got this from was right across the famous Monte Carlo Casino. I don’t know much about Monaco’s history, but I do know that the Grand Prix is held yearly in this country.  It is a Formula One motor race that takes place at the Circuit de Monaco.  The first race started on April 1929, and it’s been held for about 72 times now. The bear keychain…

The Kuchlbauer Bierwelt is a landmark famous for its brewery, restaurant and tower.  This brewery is located in Abensberg Bavaria Germany.  The Kuchlbauer Bierwelt is such a unique place, it’s a combination of a brewery and art.  The owner of the brewery loved art so much he had world famous artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser create the famous Kuchlbauer Tower. The tower has a colorful, quirky, fun, wavy, and an onion dome design which gives it a very unique look.  Visitors can go inside the tower, take the tour and go all the way up to the dome and see the beautiful views.
